DEFINITION

(under the class definition) Spring device in which the spring element is a unitary member having a portion subject to a deforming force while another portion is retained against movement or is subject to a force which is substantially lesser than or opposite in direction to the first force; which element either (a) includes an unconvoluted portion to which the force is applied as an axial twist, or (b) constitutes a spirally wound body the number of turns of which tend to be changed by the application of the first-mentioned force.
