DEFINITION

Classification: 252/182.12

Organic reactant:

(under subclass 182.11) Subject matter wherein the composition contains a single reactant or plural noninteractive chemical reactants at least one of which is organic in nature.

(1) Note. The term organic denotes the reactant as one

which has carbon therein the which is further characterized by the presence of (a) a C-C bond, or (b) C-H bond, or (c) (C-halogen bond, or (d) C-N or C=N bond, with the proviso that hydrocyanic acid, cyanogen, isocyanic acid, cyanamide, cyanogen halide, isothiocyanic acid, and metal carbides are excluded as being organic in nature.
