DEFINITION

Classification: 246/457

(under subclass 454) Subject matter having crossings which have a hard filler, with end risers, placed at the crossing-point between the gauge and guard rails, affording a bearing-surface upon which the flange of the wheel runs, carrying the wheel-tread clear of the gap in the gauge-rail.

(1) Note. The subclass contains a few patents in which a flange-bearing is obtained without the use of a riser by lowering the tread of the rail until the flange of the wheel strikes the bottom of the frog.
