(under subclass 22) Device provided with additional means which is differentially responsive, to two or more diverse bits of data which control the selection of tools in the device, in such manner that a certain time sequence of transmission of such bits makes said additional means effective to transmit said signal or impulse to the control-imposing means.
(1) Note. For example, a device in this subclass may effect
an automatic change of code, sometimes involving the punching of "letters shift" or "figures shift" symbols at appropriate locations in an output tape. The control- imposing means does not select tools, but establishes or selects the system by which tool selections are governed, during the existence of a given operating condition.
