Including an access opening in a sidewall intended to permit lateral insertion or removal of content:

(under subclass 100) Subject matter wherein the peripheral wall structure of the box includes an opening which is intended to permit insertion or removal of content in a generally horizontal direction.

(1) Note. An access opening may be either open or closed.

(2) Note. An access opening for this subclass must be expressly disclosed as being for lateral insertion or removal of content.

(3) Note. A box having an opening in its side wall for another reason (e.g., for viewing or as thumb notch for gripping the contents) is not proper for this subclass unless it is also disclosed as being for lateral insertion or removal of content. [figure]
