DEFINITION

Classification: 208/160

(under subclass 159) Processes wherein the temperature is controlled by removing a portion of the solids, circulating the same to an external heat exchange, and then back to the zone from which they were removed.

(1) Note. This technique may be used to reheat solids which have been used as heat carriers or to cool overheated solids.

(2) Note. Excluded from this subclass are processes in which spent solids are reheated merely by the regeneration operation.
