DEFINITION

Classification: 192/70.21

(under subclass 70.11) Device including a multiple-element clutch-assemblage the members of which are arranged along an axis of rotation, and provided with means for moving the members along said axis, wherein said means causes said members to engage one another in a predetermined succession of mutual engagements along said axis, or to disengage from one another in the same or an opposite succession of mutual disengagements.

(1) Note. The purpose of the structure described is to

ensure that torque from one shaft is applied gradually to the other shaft rather than suddenly.
