DEFINITION

Classification: 192/213

Plural helical coil spring damping stages:

(under subclass 212) Subject matter wherein the recoilably yieldable means includes at least two elongated resilient members each formed into a helix and wherein for a first range of angles of relative rotation at least one of the resilient members acts to oppose the relative rotation with a first force and for a second range of angles of relative

rotation at least one other of the resilient members acts to oppose further relative rotation with a second net force which differs from the first force.

(1) Note. The at least two resilient members provide at least two damping stages which may be due to different spring stiffnesses or to a summing of the force of a second resilient member with the force of a first member after a predetermined clearance between an end of the second resilient member and a member which acts to compress the resilient member is taken up.
