(under subclass 240) Apparatus in whose accomplishment or operation the rotary speed change is brought about by moving a web (or chain) like power transmitting element with respect to its mating power transmitting element.

(1) Note. Typically, a roll-shaft-driving belt is moved axially along a truncated cone cylinder, whereby the change in the diameter of the cylinder causes the speed variation.
