DEFINITION

Classification: 188/314

(under subclass 313) Device provided with an enclosed space additional to said container, which space is hydraulically connected to only one of said sections and accommodates liquid forced from said section by said member, or accommodates liquid stored therein to compensate for possible loss of liquid from the device.

(1) Note. To be considered as a "reservoir" the space referred to should not permit passage of liquid from one compartment to another, but rather should permit passage of liquid from a particular compartment to the reservoir and return of liquid from the reservoir to the particular compartment. Other subclasses (for which, see below) provide

for an external passage hydraulically connecting two compartments of a cylinder and incidentally serving to store liquid outside of the cylinder.

SEE OR SEARCH THIS CLASS, SUBCLASS:

313, for a shock absorber having an external passage for circulation and storage of liquid.

318, for a shock absorber having an orifice in its piston and also having an external passage for circulation and storage of liquid.
