(under subclass 272) Device wherein the mechanism is an engine emitting waste products and includes a member that may be positioned to restrict the emission of such products, whereby the operation of said engine is restrained as a result of such restriction.
(1) Note. The engine may be an internal-combustion engine emitting exhaust products or a steam engine or turbine emitting waste steam, but in either case the restriction on emission is the proximate cause of engine retardation.
