DEFINITION

(under subclass 327) Apparatus in which the bit is particularly adapted to receive and restrain unsupported abrasive particles between its outer end and the bore bottom, said particles forming the cutting edge of the bit.
(1) Note. For classification under this definition the abrasive particles must be described as separate elements such as shot or other pellets insertable into the bore. Drilled chip particles which may incidentally function to disintegrate the formation are excluded.
(2) Note. The abrasive particles need not be claimed for classification in this subclass.
