DEFINITION

Classification: 139/317

Means of the type peculiarly adapted for controlling the order in which selective power-transmitting mechanisms are thrown into and out of action: comprises patterns having indicators and feelers affected by the indicators, but does not include the power-transmission devices which are connected or disconnected by the feelers. They are employed in producing complicated designs having a great variety of changes and are to be distinguished from cams, cranks, and the like, which are intended to transmit power directly and are practical only when few changes are required.
