DEFINITION

Classification: 137/272

(under the class definition) Fluid distributors characterized by a vertical delivery riser with a valve at the bottom, to avoid freezing when installed below the frost line, and an extended actuator for the valve, usually for actuating the valve from a point adjacent the outlet from the riser or an extension thereof.

(1) Note. The common form of this device is the fire hydrant, but railway water cranes, outdoor toilet installations and frost-proof irrigation outlets are included.
