A feeding device in which a horizontal auger, etc., functions solely as a discharge assistant for promoting the smooth flow of feed to an underlying trough or which includes a series of reciprocating paddles, etc., for moving feed back and forth over hopper discharge apertures, e.g., a sweep shuttle, etc., are not proper for this subclass absent any other horizontal transport structure for transferring a charge.
